︎ Home as Healthcare Hub

Fall 2025 students collaborated with the FDA Home as a Healthcare Hub initiative and worked directly in the FDA Idea Lab installed in the Taubman Visualization Lab. With clinical input from medicine, nutrition, and public health, students used the Idea Lab as a platform to build empathy for stakeholders in low-income housing managing diabetes. The work presented here illustrates implementable, impactful concepts supported by images, research summaries, and prototype descriptions.

The class also focused on identifying and redesigning critical decision points in the daily lives of diabetic individuals and families, moments where conscious choices shape health outcomes.Through individual projects ranging in scale, students developed creative strategies that linked design intent to research-driven health goals. Each proposal was evaluated across the design continuum including information, product, interior, architecture, urban realm, and policy, demonstrating how innovative digital and physical interfaces can guide and support healthier decision-making.
